RESULTS and UPCOMINGS

“BATAVIA IL—Last week when I invited people to Illinois to "beat the heat," there was some risk that it could have been Texas-hot. Fortunately, the weather was great; a high temperature of 81° and clear skies both days made for a "Chamber of Commerce" weekend. Several people came for relief; we had cooks from Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona and even sweltering Washington State. Mike Usiak from Chicago bested the 45-cook field to become the Illinois State Champion. I want to offer a special thnk you to our Terlingua Champion, Susan Dean for attending the cookoff.

We haven't totaled-up the monies yet, but the good crowds make me believe both our Saturday and Sunday charities will do well.

I'd just like to thank all those who came to Batavia, who helped, who made it a great weekend celebrating chili. If you want some mid-summer relief, mark down the last saturday in July, 2010 for Batavia. The winners:
