“BATAVIA IL—Tired of the triple-digit heat in the south? Plan your escape now. The 17th Illinois State Championship Chili Cookoff will be held on July 25 in Batavia IL. The normal high temperature for Northern Illinois at the end of July is 83°. TICC Champion, Susan Dean has decided to "play it cool" and attend. If you do plan to join her; please leave the heat behind. Batavia was recently ranked #56 on Money Magazine's list of Best Places to Live. We'd like to keep that honor.

Sorry, we don't have on-site RV parking, but we do have hotels and there is a forest preserve with water & electric and a dump station nearby. For information, contact Bill Pierson at 630.879.7934 or
wccco@comcast.net.” Bill Pierson

POTPOURRI

Since we were recently struck by a driver who ran a red light in Austin, I guess we’re safe for seven years. According to the Austin American Statesman:

“Allstate America’s fifth annual ranking of U.S. cities for safe driving puts Austin in a familiar position: breathing tailpipe exhaust from almost everyone else. According to the study released today, Austin finished 179th out of 193 cities ranked. On average, the average Austin-area driver will have an accident once every 7 years.”

Happy Birthday to Betsy Schulze and Dru Stewart. Happy Anniversary to Stan and Maxie Moore.
