“Here is a up date on Suzie Manske. She was admitted back into Baylor emergency last night, and is in CCU. Suzie has about 22 pounds of fluid build up they are trying to get out. As of midnight they still were unable to get her blood pressure up enough to start the next procedure. As I know more I will try and keep everyone updated. Thanks for all the cards, flowers and calls.” David Manske

RESULTS and UPCOMINGS

“Are you ready for the 32nd Annual Arlingua CCO? It is being held as always at the Arlington Elks Lodge #2114 located at 601 W. Pioneer Parkway (between Center Street and Matlock). We have three days of fun planned out. Here is the schedule:

Saturday (9-5): The Iron Chili Challenge. This is a non-sanctioned event where the first 30 registered participants will be given identical pre-mixes of spices and meat to use. Cooks are allowed to augment it with whatever they wish, but they must use what they are given. Entry is $10 (cash) and we will pay back 100% to the top 5. Turn-in and judging at 5:00 p.m.. Then starting at about 7:00 p.m., we will host the cook’s party at the Lodge. We will serve burgers…you bring the sides. There will also be live entertainment Saturday night in the lodge!

Sunday (9-6): The Main Event; the 32nd Annual Arlingua Chili Cookoff. Turn-in times are:

12:00 p.m. for beans (dry, white beans from scratch only - $5 entry);
1:00 p.m. for Junior Chili (free entry – grind only);
2:00 p.m. for Elks Division (free if cooking CASI)
2:00 p.m. for CASI chili ($20 – grind only).

We have the well-respected (?) Jim “Dog” Luhn in charge of the proceedings (Thanks, Dog!). The Lodge Golf Committee is providing a great breakfast buffet for about $5 a head (that means adult libations will be available early on Sunday!).

Monday (9-7): The First Annual Arlington Doe’s Chili Cookoff. Noon turn-in; grind only; $18 entry.

There is plenty of RV parking available (no hook-ups) and lots of shaded area for the cooks. We always have a great time and golfers, don’t forget your clubs! Also, be sure to bring your swimsuits and enjoy the pool (we haven’t cooled down that much yet)!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at Ratchili@tx.rr.com or Budda Manske at budda77@sbcglobal.net. See you there!” Ron Barnes
