NEWS
“News about Larry Wampler. He had a problem last weekend with bad pains in his leg. They did not know what it was. Yesterday they found a broken capillary in his esophagus that was allowing blood to be pumped into his stomach at each heart beat. He had surgery and is doing ok today.
They have moved Larry to ICU in Greenville. They have given him 11 pints of blood so far. Rex talked with him this morning and Jackie G. went by to see him this afternoon. He has a leaking capillary in his stomach and they have to go in and patch it. That was the reason for so much blood loss.” Dave Hewlett
COOKOFF STORIES
A funny thing happened on the way to the airport.
We took Gabby with us to California last week. Gabby is our GPS device, so named because she never seems to be quiet if we fail to follow her directions. Anyhow, she was very useful in helping us find our way around.
Monday morning, a search of Gabby’s database came up empty when we looked for Sacramento International Airport. However, it did come up with Sacramento Airport Taxi. We figured the taxi company would probably have their garage at or near the airport and we decided to follow that choice.
We followed the directions, in heavy traffic and rain, for nearly an hour. Everything seemed to going okay because there were signs indicating we were generally headed toward the airport. Then, we turned off the highway and seemed to be going into a neighborhood. We thought this must be a short cut and continued to follow Gabby’s instructions. We took the next turn and there it was, a single cab parked in front of its owners house. Hmmm.
