NEWS

Tequila RoseBud Society and Friends,

“Our annual Tequila RoseBud Social Hour is coming together to be a very special “pink & black” event for 2009 at TICC! It is open to all women at Rancho CASI de los Chisos as a night of camaraderie and fun. As always, we hope to entertain and touch your heart. Dazzling trophies are planned the Tequila Rose Cooking Contest (see rules in October TTT), and there will also be great door prizes and sweet surprises!

Please remember your bottle … or 2 or 3 … of chilled Tequila Rose. As is customary, the “admission” into this celebration requires at least one bottle of Tequila Rose per lady, or a Tequila Rose Cooking Contest entry. And each RoseBud’s admission may include one guest, as well.

· Wednesday, November 4, 2009, 7 PM at judging pavilion.
· Remember your Tequila Rose dessert entry, and
· Special shot glass, and
· Something “rosey” and unique for our door prize table.
· For anyone who cannot bring a bottle of Tequila Rose, you are welcome with the option to make a donation of $10 to the CASI Scholarship Fund.
· LADIES ONLY, please!

Get creative with your pink hats and wigs and other RoseBud attire to join the fun. And remember, without the Rose, there can be no toast, so bring on those chilled bottles of that “sweet nectar”!” Susie Shaw & Carol Knight

“Please bring all your collected excess "goody bag" stuff to Big John and Blu's big white bus at Terlingua for distribution to the Terlingua school students. This was a big hit with the kids last year but we didn't have enough for all the students. They have 128 students this year, up from 118 last year so we will be glad to pass on pens, pencils, pads of paper, keyrings, koozies, plastic cups, t-shirts, caps, calculators, first-aid kits, etc ...everything you won't be using from your cooks goody bags over the past year. Family friendly only, no beer logos- and please, no obviously used items. Please have everything to us no later than Wednesday morning as we will be assembling these Wednesday afternoon. And of course, any late arrivals will still be welcome.

ALSO, if you got LadyBugged last year, remember to pass it on anonomously Friday evening for good luck to a cook on Saturday and tell the person you gave it to last year that it was you. I know some people have not been able to find theirs from the first year so I will try to have some extras so we can keep this tradition going, but the whole idea is to keep it secret for a year, then tell. First year recipients were Dani Medlin, Sue Caffey, Alan Dean, Karin Barnes, Susie Shaw, Cindy George and Tamara Dees. I know because that's where Jan Young and I left them. We'll see what kind of circle these little cuties travel!

Thanks and see ya'll at the Ranch.” Blu Monday-Daniels

RESULTS and UPCOMINGS

“What a day we had at Bass Pro Shop in Grapevine, TX for the 5th Annual Stop, Drop & Roll Chili Cookoff! Robin Williams and her WPI Firefighters Fund crew went well above and beyond in getting this organized. There was great weather, lots of vendors, thousands in attendance, Scott Whitaker on stage and the Dallas Margarita Society in full force! We had 56 CASI entrants and 39 Novice division chilis. What a busy day! My sincere thanks go out to the judging crew of Dru Stewart, Jim Ezell, Babs Johnson, Doris Coats, Chuck Edmonds & Mack Walker. Also, many thanks to the Tally crew of Kelly Brignon and Courtney Bowden. You can’t run a cookoff without great people and these are some the best! We will update the financials later but an early guess is well over $10k raised (I’m probably way low on this guess-timate). Now, the winners:

Chili (56 judged)
1. Cathy Preston - Arlington
2. Babs Johnson - Irving
3. Bruce Stewart - Hurst
4. Terry Booth - Euless
5. Angie Aslin - Grapevine
6. Kelly Brignon - Ennis
7. Kelly Killingbeck - Euless
8. Gale Thedford - Lewisville
9. Lacy Albrecht - Grapevine
10. Courtney Bowden - Ferris

Show:
1. American Legion Family - Karen Ducote - Euless
2. Texas Chili Chicks “Yo Ho” Chili - Robin Short - Burleson
3. Star Spangled Bandit Chili - Sherrie Bowen - Denton

This is a great event that gets better and better every year. Make your plans now for next year and the 6th Annual Stop, Drop & Roll CCO.” Ron Barnes
