Yesterday, I mentioned the winter weather we’re experiencing. For those of you outside central Texas, here’s some perspective from Mark Lisheron in the Austin American Statesman:

“Let’s be honest. We suffer from weather envy here. By the time that arctic front from Canada gets here he’s already wearing a black mesh midriff tank top and he’s stopped saying yah der, hey.

Which is why we pretend we are driving on glare ice whenever it rains and wear those snorkel parkas with the fake fur lining the hood and waffle stompers when it gets below 65.”

“Roylene is in the hospital in KC with the results of her fall in Terlingua. Now, they say that she has three fractures in her pelvis. The plan for tomorrow is to inject a glue into the cracked area to stop the relative movement and thus stop the pain. Her wrist has a plate and 14 screws. She is on oxycontin and morphine anf her pain is still severe. Linda says she's pretty loopy from all the drugs, and they expect a rather lengthy rehabilitation period after they stop the pain.” Steve Dowdy
