RESULTS and UPCOMINGS

After the torrential downpours, lightning and wind of the early dawn gave way to sunshine and warm breezes, the 2008 Maryland State Championship got under way with plenty of great tasting chilis, cigars, BBQ ribs and great blues music. Our little community of Severna Park came out and really supported us on Saturday, August 2nd. We welcomed 7 new cooks to our pod and CASI, 2 of which qualified for TICC and are ready to go!

Over $1000 was raised for the Wounded Warrior Project, which does not include the money from beer sales, which at press time was still being tabulated. Broadleaf Tobacco really put forth a lot of effort and support for the charity, and were great hosts for the event.

Our MDP crew of Jack Windsor, Rick Sievering, Tim Lawler, Lori Pinson and Tom Jenkins busted their butts before, during and after to make this one our best events this year. Without them this cook-off would never have run as smoothly as it did. A big THANK YOU to Keystone State Pod members Chris Johnson (who helped train a new table monitor), and Lew Wheeling (for doing the tabulation). Butch we missed you!

Now onto the important part….the winner of the MD State Championship and our top 3 qualified Maryland cooks!
