“Howdy, Bruce and I along with Larry Burruss will be cooking up some grub on March 7th in Boerne at the chuckwagon competition. There will be a chuck wagon cook-off heritage gathering in Boerne on Saturday March 7th. This event is held at the Agricultural Heritage Museum www.AgMuseum.org The Agricultural Heritage Museum is hosting this unique western heritage event that will have something for the whole family, including a great chuck wagon cook-off contest and games for the kids. A western tradeshow, live county music, cowboy poetry and demonstrations will add to the festivities.
Gunpowder Cookin’ will be present….we have not competed at this event b/4…should be a lot of fun. We can only have 4 cooks in camp, so we are looking for one more cook. We will be cooking for 40 ticket holders (you may want to call to see if they still have tickets available). Food judging is at 12N; the judging will be a bit different in Boerne…the judges come to the wagon as most events it’s blind judging. The menu is chicken fried steak; pinto beans; taters; biscuits; and dessert using canned peaches (most events it’s dried fruit). So having canned peaches is great for a good ol’ cobbler, Larry is baking the cobbler, yummy. There will be 20 wagons at this event.
So mark your calendar and come on out for some good ol’ fashion fun and step back in time. Gates open at 10 a.m. Heritage Museum: 830.249.6007” ~ Sharon Pinnell Gunpowder Cookin’ Sharon@bigbruce.com
