NEWS

We had a great time at the three-day Now Pod cookoffs in Waxahatchie over the weekend. We thank everyone for their hospitality. It sure is nice to travel and get to visit with friends we don’t see too often. This is a great cookoff to plan on attending next year – lots of cooks, loads of interested public, a supportive charity, cooks’ supper, barn dance, and more. Bruce Stewart sent Sunday’s results (below). We’ll print the rest as soon as we get them. (Alan)

THERE IS NO RV HOOK UPS, NO BAR, BYOB, and NO FRIDAY MEAL. The Elks will be in their new building by next October's cook off. Thank you.” (Gil Hewlett)

“The 28th annual Rose City Chili Cookoff in Tyler will be held for the 3rd time at the Gander Mountain store on Hwy 69 South. There is more than enough RV parking, just no hook-ups. Plenty of spaces for day cooks and overnighters. We also are continuing our popular, highly coveted People's Choice competition so please bring plenty to serve our large crowds and enter the "Local" competition. Benefits East Texas Humane Society and they will have pets for adoption on-site. Stay for the cooks party Saturday evening; $5 will get you gumbo and wings and the all important Margarita Contest judges wristband. And by all means, bring your tequila and enter your own concoction, contestants eat free. Next day "Twice Is Nice" cookoff turn-in at noon, extra chance for points.” ( Blu Daniels)
