“Burlington, IA—The fifth rotation of the Three-I Regional Open Championship found us in historic Burlington on the Mississippi River, the birthplace of CASI chili in Iowa. The Burlington Eagles Aerie 150 was our host. Interestingly, all 38 cooks were "I's" except for three former "I's" who now have Texas addresses. Frequently we are in Iowa cooking chili the first week in May, and frequently, the weather is awful. Last Saturday was ideal weather to spend an afternoon outside - warm and sunny. This was only the fifth Three-I ROC, but we've already had our first repeat winner; Bill Thomas won the 3-I two years ago in Indianapolis and repeated the feat in Burlington. The winners:
