Visitation for TOM COOK is 6-8 p.m Friday at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373.

Funeral service is 10 a.m. July 24 at First Baptist Church, 501 Twelfth St. in Marble Falls, with the Rev. Max Copeland officiating.

Interment is 3 p.m. at Comal Cemetery in New Braunfels.

POTPOURRI

Did you know, as concerns that oil exploration threaten shrimp harvests in the Gulf, that oil exploration is helping produce shrimp on farms in west Texas? At one time, this area was under the Permian Sea. Oil wells often tap into this salty underground water supply and produce large saltwater ponds used for farming shrimp. This water is very pure and the shrimp produced are certified "organic" and taste very sweet. In 2005, west Texas produced nearly 7 million pounds of shrimp on these inland farms.
