Here's wishing everyone a lucky Friday the 13th.

A Tale of Puppy Love (actually Puppy Dove).

Thursday afternoon was time for that dreaded ritual, bathing Molly. As a Lab, she may love the water but not if it’s a bath. Once in the tub, she cooperates but getting her there is not fun. She lays down and spreads out, making it difficult for me to pick her up and carry her across the back yard to the tub.

Today, as we went out, a dove landed on the fence right next to us. It watched us closely and nodded its head in approval. I took the hose and shampoo over to the tub and the dove flew over and hovered in the air next to me. I gestured to it and it landed on my back. Then it climbed up and sat on my shoulder. Molly got very jealous, ran over, and jumped up. The dove flew onto a nearby branch.

Molly finally got in the tub and got lathered up. The dove landed on the ground right next to us and just sat there. Molly watched very closely but, thankfully, stayed in the tub.

When Molly was rinsed off, she jumped out and went to the dove. The dove was having none of that and took a perch overhead on the rain gutter, where it could supervise the drying process.

After getting toweled off, Molly got to chase the Frisbee as a reward. I threw the Frisbee and Molly gave chase. The dove flew and followed the flight of the Frisbee on the way out and Molly carrying the Frisbee on the way back. This happened about five times.

The dove stayed right with us until we went inside.
