Wine news for chili cooks:

Today Woodbridge Winery dedicated its Giving Garden, benefitting our local Food Bank, in the spirit of the late Robert Mondavi. According to Woodbridge Visitor Center Manager Larry Pilmaier, "Mr. Mondavi would have wanted us to help our local community at a time when unemployment is at an all-time high of 18.5% and so... many people are in need.” The Stockton Emergency Food Bank feeds some 5,000 community members each month through its Mobile Farmers Market, currently in 59 locations throughout San Joaquin County. Since the Woodbridge Winery Giving Garden was planted this past JUne
, the winery has given the Food Bank over 1,000 pounds of cucumbers, zucchini, Anaheim chilies, Thai hot chilies, tomatoes, corn, green beans, Swiss chard, beets and a variety of herbs.

Food and Wine Magazine just listed Texas as an underrated wine region poised to hit big. Their top Texas wine was Becker Vineyards Viognier. It made their list of "100 Bottles to Drink Right Now."
