Ariel Lin already in relationship with mystery boyfriend

TAIPEI : While celebrities tend to keep their love lives a secret, Taiwan singer-actress Ariel Lin has revealed to the press that she is seeing someone, reported Chinese media.

"I am a girl who cannot do without relationships. In my heart, there is already a 'him'," said Lin during an appearance at a press conference as the ambassador for the Taiwan Organ Registry and Sharing Center.

When asked about her mystery boyfriend, the sweet-looking 27-year-old refused to give details though she did not deny that he is a big help to her acting and singing career.

Besides shattering the dreams of her male admirers the world over, during the press conference, Lin also proudly showed off her organ donor card which she received in March last year.

"This way of passing on your love for others is often more meaningful than just [donating] money," said Lin of her choice to pledge her organs. "This is something I believe in and it is something I have acted upon."

According to Lin, she was visiting the hospital for a follow-up medical check-up last year after an operation to remove a 2-cm egg-shaped cyst in her brain, when she saw a notice about organ donation.

After a short discussion with her mother, both of them decided to become donors and signed up the next day.

Lin, who was first discovered on the long-running Taiwan variety show "Guess, Guess, Guess", shot to fame after starring in the 2005 idol drama "It Started with a Kiss" with Joe Cheng.

She then went on to win a Golden Bell Award for Best Actress Award in 2008 for her performance in the sequel "They Kiss Again".

Ariel Lin and Siwon Donghae in Extravagant Challenge

After being absent in the idol drama industry for 2 years, Ariel Lin has accepted 2 new dramas this year. The first is ‘Extravagant Challenge’ (Skip Beat) which will resume filming after a one-year break. However, the original male lead Jerry Yan will be replaced by Korean group Super Junior’s Siwon and Donghae, and the director will still be Niu Cheng Ze. The other drama that Ariel has accepted is the adapted version of Korean drama ‘Coffee Prince’. She will take on Yoon Eun-Hye’s role, and the male lead is still in discussion.

Last year, Jerry Yan, Ariel Lin were to team up with Director Niu to film idol drama ‘Extravagant Challenge’, and they went all the way to Japan to hold the press conference. Jerry even went to Japan for free to help promote. However, when they returned back to Taiwan, they were informed that the drama would not go ahead, and all their hard work was wasted. Later, there were rumours that the male lead was changed to Wu Zun, and this angered Jerry, and he quit the drama altogether.

Ariel Lin has not starred in an idol drama for quite some time, and fans even went to her management company to protest. Many fans wrote letters to her assistant, and they even directed angry comments at her manager on Ariel’s official website, complaining that their idol is an actress, not a singer. Recently, she is busy preparing for her second album, and also a travel photobook. At the earliest, she will begin filming ‘Extravagant Challenge’ in August. And as for the Taiwanese version of ‘Coffee Prince’, Ariel fell in love with the original Korean drama at the time, so she is definitely anticipating her own performance!

Ariel Lin’s ideal guy must have Guo Jing’s qualities

After being crowned Best Actress at last year’s Golden Bell Awards, Ariel Lin seems to have fallen into the “Golden Bell Curse”, since she has not acted in any drama for one entire year. She reveals that she really wants to be in a relationship: her ideal type should have traits like that of Guo Jing, and should be artistic as well.

Ariel has not acted for one whole year, and has instead turned to doing a musical. Because of the high difficulty movements that she has to execute in the musical, Ariel has been aching all over and lacking sleep. She professes, “Musicals really drain you of your energy, we spend the most time on discussing the script.”

She also reveals her ideal type: “He should be like Guo Jing in the drama, along with being a little mysterious and artistic as well!”

In regards to her future works, Ariel is hoping to start on a new drama by next February, and wishes to take on a challenging role: “(Acting the role) from her teens to her 40s. I hope every character I take on will allow the audience to identify with her; in this way will I be able to be fully absorbed in my role. As long as the character stands out and is memorable, then it’ll be OK.”

Being busy with her work, Ariel has had no time to go on a vacation, so she watches movies to de-stress instead. However Ariel is unable to watch scary movies, and laughingly says: “Once I watch a horror movie I’ll start to think too much, and I can’t vacation alone any more!”

Her wish for her 27th birthday is for the ending of the world as described in the movie <2012> not to come true.

Ariel is about to release her new album ‘Meeting Happiness’. Yesterday, she held a singing fan meet, and good sister Stella Huang gave her a gold and pink cake, and 2 pairs of couple jandals, hoping that she will find her other half soon. Ariel laughed saying: “Cinderella’s Prince finds a glass slipper, my Prince is definitely going to be a Black Prince who finds a jandal!”

She revealed that currently, there is nobody pursing her, and she listed her requirements: “Has to be tall, be compassionate and be brave.” Halfway during the fan meet, there was a drunk person who began throwing bottles at everyone, and this scared both Ariel and her fans. But staff members immediately reported this to police and it was quickly dealt with.
