Jay Chou will sing The Green Hornet theme song

Jay Chou Green Hornet

The "Double J Relationship" is part of history now. Jay Chou is now busy with his career; yesterday he flew to Hollywood to participate in postproduction work for "The Green Hornet". According to reports he will be singing the theme song to the movie. He just held 8 nights in Hong Kong, he took time out to meet with his buddy Shawn Yue, the two both urged for a sequel to "Initial D". He smiled saying: "I hope we can film it the year after, lets film it before we get old."

Yesterday Jay Chou flew to America for work. According to reports since the beginning of the filming of "The Green Hornet", he has been fighting for the right to sing the theme song for the movie "The Green Hornet". He's planning to invite the director of "The Green Hornet" Michel Gondry to film the MV for the theme song he'll sing. At last it has been decided, to this Jay admitted: "I wanted to sing it from the start, it'll be best if it's the global version, but if it's the Asia version that's good too."

Yesterday a weekly magazine reported, after Jolin Tsai and a mixed male model Vivian started a "JV relationship", Jay has gotten depression. But according to the observations of his colleagues at the company, recently Jay has been full of work, they don't see anything wrong with his mental state. He was very high at the backstage of the concert, it was the birthday of a colleague, and he played and sang a Chinese and English version of Happy Birthday with a guitar. He also rearranged "Free Instructional Video" entertaining everyone.

This weekly magazine also stated, for his new show "Mr. J Channel", he originally planned to invite Jolin to be a guest for this season at the very end, but because of the exposure of her relationship with Jin Rong it has been cancelled. JVR are puzzled where this idea came from, because Jay once publicly said, "People who have been rumoured with me, I won't be inviting on, why blur the focus."

Jay Chou film Secret 2 in 3D version

Jay Chou

Recently Jay Chou has been busy with his world tour, but in recent days a Taiwanese cinematographer Kiven revealed on his blog the plans of Jay Chou's new movie "Secret 2", the female lead has been exposed early. According to cinematographer Kiven: "After Jay Chou is finished with his concert next year, he'll film the sequel to Secret. At present the script is already being planned, this time it's going to be a bit more sci-fi, and also bits of it will be in 3D."

When Jay Chou was filming "Secret" he already had ideas for "Secret 2", it was just because he was busy with other things afterwards that nothing came of it. The script for the new movie has already been in the works since the start of last year, it's been confirmed now that they will start filming in September next year. Earlier Jay Chou revealed to the media, besides the background crew for the movie not changing, the majority of the male cast will also be the same, but for the female cast he wants to "change things". He's worried that the audience have too deep of an impression of Guai Lun Mei and Alice Tzeng, so with a newcomer it will give the movie a different feeling. And about other details of the movie, Jay Chou has been unwilling to reveal any information.

But cinematographer Kiven leaked quite a lot of Jay Chou's "secrets" on his blog; just like last time "Secret 2" will be about time travelling, it's just that this time there'll be more creative scenes and stories. In Director Chou's new album "The Era" he has been plugging the "time travelling" songs, this time's "Secret 2" female lead, Man Qi, was recommended to Jay Chou by a good friend. The female lead is pretty and pure, her sweet temperament is in line with the style of people Jay Chou uses. The different thing to "Secret" is that this time in "Secret 2", it will be about "time travel" between now and the future, due to the fact the male and female leads are from different eras and have different technologies, a lot of exciting stories arise from it. The male lead is a high school student, the female lead is from the technology-advanced future, very sci-fi, for this time Jay Chou will use 3D in the movie and make a music love story with the "Hollywood" style grand feeling.

Reporters asked for further confirmation about the details revealed by Kiven about "Secret", and they got into contact with JVR staff. Staff member Mr Wang did not deny plans about "Secret 2", but he declined to comment about further details.

Jay Chou and Cameron Diaz in Hollywood The Green Hornet

Jay Chou

Upcoming Hollywood action flick ‘The Green Hornet’ starring Seth Rogan, Cameron Diaz & Jay Chou released its official trailer today. In the film, Jay plays Kato, a smart tech genius who develops bizarre high-tech weapons. The film is slated to release in the U.S in January next year, and will be released in Hong Kong in early February.

The trailer is two and a half minutes long and shows many exciting scenes. Jay appears many times, evidently displaying the importance of his character. From the trailer, we can see Jay’s usual ‘cool’ style in Kato. Something also worth mentioning is his English pronunciations; it seems like a lot of hard work went into practicing English for this film.

The film was originally slated to release this year, however it has now been delayed to January 14th, 2011 due to conversion to 3D

Dubbed as Jet Li's first non-action work in his career, the movie tells a touching story between a father and his only son. When the father finds out that he is terminally ill, he decides to teach his only son, who is autistic, to live on his own.

Jay Chou Album The Era breaks record

Jay Chou The Era

Jay Chou's new album was released across Asia today, and Hong Kong sales have already surpassed 70,000 copies, smashing his previous album sales record. In the MV for his second title track 'The Era', Jay turns into a handsome vampire and it also features a special custom-made piano that cost $620,000rmb, again smashing his personal record for the most amount of money spent on an MV. And for his third title track 'Raining All Night', Jay continues to travel through time, and transforms into a traditional Chinese man, playing er hu. The most special thing about this MV is that it actually led to a very happy event. During filming, one of the male actors suddenly proposed to his girlfriend, who was also one of the female actors, making her very surprised but happy. And this whole process was also recorded.

Sales for Jay's new album have already surpassed 70,000 copies, breaking the record for his previous album 'November's Chopin'. And to achieve the visual effects, the album comes in a 3D metal box, evidently displaying the amount of money spent.

Darren star in Jay Chou MV It Rains All Night

Jay CHou

Jay Chou directed and starred in the MV for his new song "It Rains All Night", but he's only playing the role of the story teller. He's given the male lead role to Darren from The Drifters, to star in a love story in this life and the past life. However, he didn't let his buddy taste the "sweetness", the intimate scene with the female lead was completed by using angles.

In Jay Chou's new song, from the lyrics, the melody to the scenes in the MV, he goes from the present to the 20s and 30s, he went from playing the cello to playing the erhu wearing a gown. The big crew went to 100 year old Taipei Guest House to get shots. His singing went from R&B to the singing found in Beijing Opera; he subtly joins together the love from the past to the present.

In the MV Darren sees his beloved female lead marry someone else, and he couldn't stop crying. It was his first time filming a crying scene, he cried very miserably. He couldn't stop crying even after Jay Chou shouted "cut". Jay Chou said: "He really knows how to act, a man crying for love, it really moves me!" Jay Chou's singing and signing session for his album "The Era" will be in Gaoxiong, Taichung on the 22nd, and on the 23rd he'll be at Shimen in Taipei.

Jay Chou drama Pandamen start to air

Jay Chou

Beijing Jiu Zhou Culture Communication Co., Ltd, general manager Tian Jing Quan yesterday happily confirmed that Jay Chou’s self-directed drama ‘Pandamen’ will begin broadcasting on all the major television stations in China beginning from January 17th. Last month, Jay had rushed back to Taiwan to re-film some scenes, and less than 2 weeks after that, the airing permit has finally been granted. Rumours suggest that China’s SARFT is giving special treatment to Asia’pop King but yesterday, Tian Jing Quan laughed: “There weren’t really any problems in the first place, some editing was not done smoothly, but now everything is complete, so it’s been approved.”

But it’s also because of the name ‘Jay Chou’ that as soon as the airing permit for ‘Pandamen’ was granted, mainland China’s 8 major television stations and 4 Home Satellite channels immediately tossed their original series broadcast aside, and changed to ‘Pandamen’ as 2010’s biggest drama! From January 17th, Shan Dong, Guang Zhou, Beijing & Shanghai will first broadcast, and then from February 2nd, Jiang Su, Zhe Jiang, Chong Qing & Shen Zhen will then broadcast. The premiere event is set to be on January 28th or 29th. However, Taiwan’s side previously did not want to set a date until the airing permit was granted, and now the broadcast date has temporarily been delayed to April.

Recently, Jay Chou has just finished promoting his film ‘The Treasure Hunter’, and his Hollywood film ‘The Green Hornet’ has also wrapped up. Currently, he is busy preparing for his new album. JVR expressed that ‘Pandamen’ means very much to Jay, and so he will definitely co-operate with all promotional activities. Yesterday, Tian Jing Quan also expressed that ‘Pandamen’ total costs are estimated to be $25million rmb (NT$1200million). It is the cross-strait (China & Taiwan) collaboration drama with the highest production costs to date, and there will definitely be grand premiere events!

Schedule so far:

2010 January 17th: Shan Dong TV

2010 January 22nd: Kun Ming TV 7:30pm

2010 January 24th: Guang Zhou TV 8:00pm

Jay Chou will not kiss in The Treasure Hunter

Jay Chou

THIS might be sad news for Jay Chou fans: The Taiwanese pop star/actor prefers not to have overly intimate scenes in his movies.

The reason?

He wants to come across as a decent guy.

“It’s a matter of image, it’s very important. I cannot be kissing so freely,” said the 30-year-old star candidly in Mandarin, at a press conference held at Raffles City Convention Centre yesterday.

He was in town to promote his latest film, The Treasure Hunter, also starring Lin Chi-ling.

He added: “You don’t necessarily need to kiss to portray deep emotions.”

Chou was in town with Lin, 35, and Taiwanese director Kevin Chu to promote the action movie, which opens next Thursday.

The film, touted to be National Treasure meets The Mummy, sees Chou playing a roguish treasure hunter, Ciao Fei, who is forced to hand over a valuable map of a lost city in exchange for the life of his mentor’s daughter, Lan Ting (played by Lin).

Teaming up with a famous archaeologist, they set off to recover the map and protect the ancient treasure buried beneath the city.

Lin said the role – her second acting gig so far – is her most challenging one yet.

The leggy beauty had to film in a desert in Hengdian – a small town in Dongyang of central Zhejiang province of China – for three months, even suffering a cut to her face that became infected.

The two leads share a couple of romantic sequences in the US$15 million (S$21 million) film, but do not have any kissing scenes.

Nor can you expect any scenes where they tumble into bed together.

Rumour has it that Lin convinced the director to remove the only kissing scene with Chou.

When asked about it, Lin said Chu hadn’t had plans for any intimate scenes between the two at all.

“From the film, you can tell that the relationship between Ciao Fei and Lan Ting is a very pure and ambiguous one, with the characters not saying what they mean. He intentionally left a space for the audience to guess and imagine what their relationship is,” she explained.

Lin, who was first seen in John Woo’s 2008 historical epic, Red Cliff, added that her chemistry with Chou was “very good”.

“Filming with him was very comfortable as we knew each other before taking on this project,” she said.

“We can communicate well and give each other suggestions on how to act better… Jay is a very creative person, so his ideas inspire me to improve on my character,” she added.

When asked – given their chemistry – whether there were moments where she felt as though there might be a stronger connection, she smiled knowingly.

“I wouldn’t dare, he has too many fans,” she said with a laugh.

CHOU’S GIRLS

Just as well that Lin wouldn’t make a move on her co-star. Chou – who first broke out in movies in Hong Kong flick Initial D (2005), for which he won a Golden Horse Award – revealed that because of his star status, starlets are afraid to be seen with him.

“If we get shot by the paparazzi, people will immediately assume (that whoever I’m with) is my girlfriend. It is unfair for the girls,” he said.

“I don’t have any way of clearing my name, or theirs. The more I try to speak, the more mistakes I make,” he added.

Chou has been linked to pop star Jolin Tsai, as well as TV host Patty Hou and singer Jessie Chiang. Chou has been upfront with the media only about his relationship with Hou, whom he dated in 2005.

But he reassured the press that the next time he is with someone for real, he’ll confirm the relationship just so they won’t have to speculate, he said wryly.

Chou’s star is on the rise, especially with his first foray into Hollywood.

He recently nabbed a role in the movie remake of The Green Hornet, alongside Seth Rogen and Cameron Diaz, and will be playing the superhero’s sidekick, Kato.

Filming is still ongoing in Hollywood, and the film is scheduled to be released in December next year.

Even though he has been in the entertainment industry for 10 years now, Chou said acting in Hollywood was still an entirely different ball game for him.

“Over there, I feel like I’m a newbie. I have to wait very long before getting started on filming my scenes) and I cannot speak too loudly. I have to be well-behaved. It was fun; a good experience,” he said with a smile.

Takeshi, Zhou Xun and Jay Chou in The Smiling Proud Wanderer

takeshi kaneshiro

Renowned director and action choreographer Yuen Woo-ping is busy trying hard to raise S$40million to shoot the wuxia remake of The Smiling, Proud Wanderer, plus cast his dream team of actors in including actor Takeshi Kaneshiro as Linghu Chong, actress Zhou Xun as Ren Yingying, and singer Jay Chou as Dongfang Bubai.

The new remake of the classic novel by Louis Cha is slated to begin filming at the start of 2010 after the Lunar New Year festivities. In the meantime, Yuen does not plan to accept any other directing jobs in order to concentrate wholly in producing the series.

Yuen has expressed that 36-year-old Kaneshiro best fits the role of the lead character, Linghu Chong. Both parties are currently engaged in talks and if the actor agrees, Yuen plans to send him to Beijing for martial arts training sessions. As the show concentrates heavily on martial arts, Yuen hopes that the main actors will receive martial arts training before filming begins to present a more lifelike portrayal of the story.

He also has plans to invite Chinese actress, Zhou Xun, to take up the female lead role as Ren Yingying. He was so impressed by her acting chops and gracefulness in his previous collaboration with her, True Legend, and decided to work with her again.

As both Kaneshiro and Zhou previously collaborated as lovers in the movie, Perhaps Love, he feels that they have enough tacit understanding of each other to bring out the best of their lovebirds characters onscreen.

Apart from these, Yuen hopes that Jay Chou will take on the last remaining lead role as Dongfang Bubai in the show. The chance of Yuen gaining a nod of agreement from Jay lies relatively high as the latter is in awe and respect of the director. The Taiwanese performer also previously agreed to guest star in Yuen’s movie, True Legend.

Jay Chou uses no substitute in fight scene

Jay Chou

Mando-pop sensation Jay Chou went all out for the upcoming action/adventure film “The Treasure Hunter”.

The singer-turned-actor has committed himself to every action scene in the film, insisting that no stand-in substitutes for him even in the most furious fight scenes.

Siu-Tung Ching, the film’s kung fu director, complimented that Jay is a gifted action actor and he managed to finish each series of moves, with appropriate strength, only by one take.

“The difference between me and others is that I finish it [the action scenes] all by myself,” Chou said.

“With all the protection measures nowadays, I will hardly get hurt during the filming,” he added.

“The Treasure Hunter” is the third Jay Chou-starred film following his screen debut “Secret” in 2007 and basketball-themed “Kung Fu Dunk” in 2008.

Co-starring Taiwan’s homegrown supermodel-actress Lin Chiling and mainland veteran actor Chen Daoming, the flick is slated for screen on December 31.

Song Zu Ying appeared on the stage in numerous traditional Chinese costumes. ‘Lun Ying’ (Jay Chou + Song Zu Ying) duo held hands and sung ‘A Thousand Miles Away’ and ‘Folk Songs Are Like Spring Water’ together.

Jay Chou then sat on a dragon throne while singing his solo ‘Fearless’. He then sung another solo ‘Chrysanthemum’ while playing guzheng. After this, Song Zu Ying & Domingo held hands while singing ‘Flame Of Love’ together. Domingo even did a Chinese interpretation of ‘Kang Ding Love Song’ .

Andy Hui 'snatches' Jay Chou’s rumoured girlfriend: I’m the one Jessie Chiang likes!

andy huiandy huiandy hui

Yesterday, Andy Hui filmed the MV for the title track ‘比翼双飞’ in his new album. For this MV, he invited Jay Chou’s rumoured girlfriend Jessie Chiang to be the female lead. The song tells of a couple achieving their dream of travelling the world, but on the way, they meet God’s merciless joke, and the female lead eventually dies, becoming the male lead’s forever sad song. The 2 showed off a big romantic display, and Andy joked, exclaiming to the air: “I’m the one she truly likes!”

Jessie revealed that both she and her mum are Andy’s loyal fans. The first time being in such close contact with her idol, she was so nervous that she couldn’t look him straight in the eye, and she kept repeating shyly: “I feel like I’m dreaming.” Under Andy’s encouragement, the 2 began to heat up, and did many intimate poses infront of the camera. Talking about his collaboration with Jessie, Andy laughed saying: “Previously, I heard about her rumours with Jie Lun, but I want to clarify, Jie Lun ah, the one she truly likes is me, not you la!” He also praised Jessie saying: “She is a very cute little girl, and looks very warm and gentle, I think there should be many guys that wish to be in close contact with her.”

jay chou

Yesterday, Jay Chou was rumoured to open a ‘couple shop’ with Jolin Tsai, and there were even rumours that suggested the 2’s ‘Mr. J’ and ‘Mr. Q’ brands have earned a massive $300million yuan.

Yesterday, Jay arrived in Hang Zhou and towards these spicy rumours, Jay who is used to these rumours used an exaggerated expression on his face and expressed that the first time he heard this, he was very surprised, and he revealed that both ‘Mr J’ and ‘Mr Q’ who have recently entered the Shanghai market, are actually his dance teacher Ice Cream’s shops: “I didn’t invest any money.” As for whether he has reconciled with Jolin, Jay used an even more firm attitude and shook his head, denying. He also seemed to allude to the fact that Jolin plagarises other people’s creativity. He said: “Mr Q was actually my early creation, and afterwards when the song came out (referring to Jolin’s song ‘Mr Q’) I was really shocked! So I changed it a bit, into ‘Mr Qu’"
