Cyndi Wang and Mike He in drama Mei Le Jia You

Cyndi Wang Mei Le Jia You

Cyndi Wang and Mike He will be in a new GTV drama called "美樂加油" (roughly translates to Mei Le, go) – a love story with a bakery shop as its setting. For the drama, they specially invited the 2010 world champion pastry chef Hsu Yen-Wu as their consultant. Coincidently, SETTV also plans to film a bakery related drama next year, but GTV will get a head start in filming. The two leads got their character image styles settled just several days ago, and the drama is to start filming on the 16th.

In "美樂加油", Cyndi Wang will play a bakery shop owner, so she has been practicing some basic skills like kneading dough and baking toasts. Mike He will play a famous music producer who falls in love with Cyndi's toasts, which gives him inspirations for his work.

Although Mike's popularity has been declining, GTV emphasized, "(We're) very happy to have Mike He be in this drama, we especially asked the original novel author (單飛雪) to modify the script to fit his character."

Mike accepted the role half a month ago and immediately began to go on a diet. Other than swimming and working, he only eats vegetables for dinner. The 180cm actor dropped from 72Kg to 68Kg. He revealed that chose less aggressive sports to lose weight due to his previous spine injury (separation of the 5th and 6th vertebrae). He said, "The doctor recommended me to go through surgery because if it gets serious, it may cause Ankylosing spondylitis, but if do, I'll have to rest for eight months, so I don't want to go through surgery right away."

Mike was injured while playing basketball during the filming of "Seventh Grade" seven years ago.

Mike He kiss Charlene Choi in Calling For Love

Mike He Charlene Choi

During filming of CTS drama ‘Calling For Love’, female lead Charlene Choi (Ah Sa)’s married status had not yet been exposed but she had many kiss scenes in the drama with male lead Mike He. Ah Sa admitted that Mike’s kissing skills successfully electrified her, and she revealed that she “very quickly entered into the world of love.”

‘Calling For Love’ will broadcast this Sunday but it seems that Ah Sa wants to avoid the media. She used work as an excuse, and was unwilling to come to Taiwan to promote her new drama, leaving producer Angie Chai to hold the fort. Ah Sa’s character in the drama is very innocent, therefore she does not have many passionate scenes. Her dress style is also very conservative; if she isn’t wearing her taxi uniform, then her clothes will be buttoned very high. At the time, she did not have many requests, the only one being having her own personal make-up artist, and she was not opposed to filming intimate scenes.

Ah Sa previously had a kiss scene with Andy Lau in ‘All About Love’ that lasted over 10 seconds. She expressed that that kiss was the most unforgettable for her. However, when she arrived in Taiwan to collaborate with Mike, she felt that he had the ‘most charm’. She admitted that she was electrified by him during filming: “His eyes are too mesmerising, at first I was too scared to look him in the eye, I was very nervous.”

At the time, Mike did not know that the girl he was kissing was in fact already married. And she also marks the first married female that he’s collaborated with. Mike revealed that previously, they went to sing KTV together, and everyone purposely wanted to pick Ronald Cheng’s songs to sing. However, they were stopped by Ah Sa, who was strongly opposed to the idea.

Mike He offers free hugs at Hong Kong movie promotion

Mike He

Taiwanese idol Mike He (Xiao Mei) went to a shopping centre to promote his movie “Love at Seventh Sight” attracting over a hundred fans to support him at the event, causing the atmosphere to be very loud. During his appearance, Xiao Mei would constantly wave at the fans and use his Cantonese to greet them causing the fans to scream and shout. The organizers also prearranged a few female fans to go up on stage and confess their love to Xiao Mei. The fans performed enthusiastically and besides screaming I love you, they also requested to hug Xiao Mei on the spot. There were also fans who brought a cake to celebrate Xiao Mei’s birthday next month. Even though the female fans were very aggressive, Xiao Mei was very obliging just like Wong Tai Sin, responding to all requests.

Praises fans for being enjoyable

After the event Xiao Mei was asked whether he was frightened by the enthusiastic fans and he said: [Haven’t seen the fans in Hong Kong for a long time, miss them a lot. Wherever I go fans from Hong Kong will appear to support me which is very enjoyable. Today’s trip to Hong Kong is very significant, fans have waited for this movie for a very long time, my appearance at today’s function has given me a sense of accomplishment.

Fallen tree, avoids a misfortune
Also, when asked whether Xiao Mei has confidence in his film at the box office, he answered: [Haven’t thought about it, hope when fans see it they will feel that I have portrayed my character well. (Are there any unforgettable scenes?) Jacqueline Li (Female lead) and I had to film on top of a tree but that tree wasn’t a real tree, it was made using reinforced concrete. At the time it was really windy and we were in a really dangerous position, 3 days after filming finished the tree got blown over which made me feel like I skipped a big misfortune.]
