“Help Needed For An Old Long-Time Chili Cook: Would you let everyone know that I am doing much better health wise, but there is something that my fellow chilihead friends could help with. It has been several years since the U.S. Government has closed the access to the special clinic in Boquillas, Mexico where I used to partake in my much need experimental treatments for my ailment. This Mexico produced experimental treatment was used to flush out the bacterial infections of the blood stream and bladder. There are rumors that this year, the consumer division of Tarantual Azul and Hussong will be offering very similar experimental treatments at Rancho CASI de los Chisos in Terlingua, TX. My doctors, especially Doc Kinnison, have recommended that I partake in this annual experimental treatment, but it is only offered during the week before the first Saturday in November and only offered at this one special location. These treatments are very expensive. Therefore, between now and October 22nd, 2008, (the day I leave Tennessee to start my journey to this clinic) I am requesting help with donations to cover cost of my diesel fuel to get to this special clinic location. All monetary donations can be sent to the HOT Pod, c/o Carol Knight in Tennessee. A special bank account has been set up and the money will only be used for my much needed experimental treatments and the cost to transport my frail body to this temporary remote clinic. Any left over funds, after my personal treatments and transportation cost, will be used for treatments of the HOT Pod general membership. HOT Pod membership fees may be included with your donation to this special fund. This will insure that you are put on the waiting list for treatments; if and when funds are available. These experimental treatments are open and can be viewed by the general CASI chilihead community and everyone is welcomed to visit this special clinic and make on the spot donations.
