We’re back after dealing with some computer difficulties. We have a backlog of news and we’ll try our best to get it all out to you in the next couple of days.

Here we are at October 1. Our chili points have all been set back at zero and we can start worrying if we’ll ever see another point. Yikes! Scary!

“For those of you cooking at the VFW in Irving Saturday and need directions:

From 183 - take Belt Line Road South - approx 3 miles, 1 block south of Shady Grove on the right there is the large Skateland sign, the drive next to that is the drive that takes you to the VFW - there is a sign there also - the building sits behind the skateland.

From 30 in Grand Prairie - north on Belt Line - approx 2 1/2 miles - 1 block past Trinity - on the left - VFW and Skateland sign (per above). If you get to Shady Grove you've gone too far.” (Ron Barnes)

“This is a reminder that the Piney Woods Pod cookoff and The day after cookoffs scheduled for October 4th and 5th in Tomball have been postponed due to Hurricane Ike and the cleanup in this area that is going on. “The Inaugural Central Valley Church CCO will be held on Saturday October 11,2008 in the rolling hills of beautiful southern Lancaster County, PA. We are raising money for the Outreach Program for the church. An open contest has been added and a large crowd is expected.
