We’re pretty much packed with plans to shove off early in the morning. If I have available Internet, I’ll update news as I can. Otherwise, we’ll be back with you on November 3. Hope to see many of you in Terlingua.
NEWS
“The Cooks Registers are in and they look great! This year I had the cover laminated so it can withstand the wear and tear of two years of use.
Unfortunately, my last Uncle passed away and I will be attending the funeral, so my chili Terlingua travel schedule had been changed. Hope to make it down in time to visit the American Legion Cookoff on Sunday the 26th, but unsure if that will happen. However, I should be at the judging pavallion on Tuesday at turn in time to hand out pre-purchased books. And yes, I do have some extra's for those who forgot to order one. Looking forward to getting down to the desert and seeing all my chili friends.” (Debbie Eiland Turner)
“Just a note. This coming Thursday (Oct 23rd) Carol Straughn and I will be doing "something" on El Paso's KDBC channel (an CBS affiliate). Our purpose will be to promote CASI and TICC. I guess we'll be doing some kind of cooking demonstration. Sooooo....., if you want to see me make a fool of myself AGAIN, check it out. Being the "stars" that we are we should appear somewhere between 5 - 7 am. Not that this does anyone outside MST any good.
I hope your day is working out just the way you planned! God Bless, and Pudge and I will see you down the road!” (Bud Barrick)

TICC
“Our Annual RoseBud Social Hour and Dessert / Sauces & Gravies Contest is scheduled for Wednesday evening, 7 PM, October 29, 2008, at TICC. This celebration of our friendship is an important time for us in Terlingua, and especially this year, celebrating CASI's new sponsor, Tequila Rose Distilling Co. Their representative, Stephanie, will be with us to join in our festivities. Dress code is pink and black, so bring out your pink hats and wigs, and special RoseBud attire, and smile for the camera!
Just a few reminders:
- Please remember your toasting glass and bottle ... or 2 or 3 ... of chilled Tequila Rose. "Admission" into the celebration requires at least one bottle per RoseBud and guest, or an entry into the Cooking With Tequila Rose Contest.
- We hope you will remember something "rosey" and unique for our door prize table, and/or a finger food of the hospitality table.
- For any guests who cannot bring a bottle of Rose, you are welcome to join us, with the option to make a donation at the door of $10 to the CASI Scholarship Fund.
- Cooking with Tequila Rose Contest was a dazzling success last year! Bring your entry of dessert or sauce, made with Tequila Rose, Java or Cocoa in it. Don't forget to furnish the recipe on a recipe card! (See rules in Terlingua Trails, Oct., 2008)
- LADIES ONLY, please.
So get creative with your outfit and come join the fun. And remember, without the Tequila Rose, there can be no toast, so bring on those chilled bottles of our "sweet nectar!"” (Susie Shaw)
“I would appreciate it if you would bring your cutting boards and knives to the judging area at TICC on Thursday, October 30, at 9:00 a.m. and help get the condiments ready for the Friday and Saturday judgings. The more who help, the quicker the job is done.” (Mavis Nelson)
“Tequila in Terlingua Society meeting is Wednesday, not Thursday.” (Roger Foltz)
