We're making progress. I'm now using my own computer and, for the moment, it's working. The data still needs to be restored before I have any saved messages or email addresses. I have to work today and we're off to cook chili (I hope I can remember how) this weekend. By Monday, I might have confidence in this laptop or it might be in a dumpster in Bastrop.
