We’re back after a fun time at Larry Joe Taylor’s Texas Music Festival. It was quite a show….and the music was great, too. I understand that there are many stories to be told, so here is mine:
We got back to our motorhome on Friday evening after sitting backstage and listening to Josh Abbot and Roger Creager. The music was terrific but a front had come through and it got wet and cold. Susan went in and, I assumed, went to bed. I stayed up and stood outside talking with David and Diana Baker.
After about thirty minutes, David said, “Do you know that girl?” I turned to see someone going into my house and thought, ‘maybe Susan’s up and invited someone in to visit.’ I figured I’d better check it out and went to see what was up.
I opened the door and went up the steps to find a young girl curled up on my sofa. I said, “Excuse me.” She replied, “Is this Robert’s house?” I said ‘no’ and she said, “Oh. My bad. Robert’s parked at H3. Is this H3?” I again said ‘no’ and she began to sit up. She slowly began to pick up and fumble with her socks and said, “Can you give me a minute?” She managed to get her shoes and boots on and staggered to the door.
She stumbled as she started down the steps and grabbed the railing with a death grip. I offered to help but she said she was ‘fine.’ However, she was unable to move until I grabbed her hand off the rail and helped her outside. She asked again where section H was and I pointed her in what I thought was the right direction.
Off she went. Who knows if she found the right place to spend the night.
David Sexton suggested we get a sign for our motorhome that says, “Not Robert’s house.”
