Vivian Chow pregnant from husband Joe Ngai Chun

Vivian Chow Pregnant

When Vivian Chow Wai Man and Joe Ngai Chun got married last year, they vowed that they were not interested in having children. However, Joe’s father, Ngai Hong wanted the couple to have children. As a result, Vivian and Joe may have changed their minds about becoming parents. Recent rumors claim that forty-three year-old Vivian may be three months pregnant!

Vivian was spotted with a minor belly bump and wearing flat shoes while attending church with Joe. On October 24th, the couple had dinner with their friends and may have announced Vivian’s pregnancy news. Vivian laughed throughout dinner and appeared to be highly excited.

Next year will mark the twenty-fifth anniversary since Vivian joined the entertainment circle. Due to her age and a possible high-risk pregnancy, Vivian turned down a guest-star opportunity at Chris Wong Hoi Kan ’s concert earlier.

Andy Lau in movie Detective Dee and The Mystery of the Phantom Flame

Andy Lau Detective Dee

The new movie “Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame” is already a huge hit in the mainland and Hong Kong. It is finally making its way to Taiwan starting with an all-star premiere on the 6th. Unfortunately its biggest star Andy Lau couldn’t attend so his fans will have to admire him on the big screen instead. His costars Carina Lau (劉嘉玲), Li Bing Bing (李冰冰), Deng Chao (鄧超), director Tsui Hark (徐克) and producer Chen Kuo Fu (陳國富) were present at the event. Things went along as usual before they were joined by a very special guest, the one and only “Detective Dee”!

This “Detective Dee” didn’t quite look the same as the one in the movie. It was actually played by comedian Kuo Tzu Chien (郭子乾) of “Big Party”. The stars watched on as he investigated a burnt corpse at the scene of the premiere. “Dee” examined and even taste-tested the victim to ensure its deadliness. He didn’t let a good opportunity go to waste; Kuo asked the director and producer to cast him in their next movie, to which they said yes…that is if they are to make a comedy.

Detective Dee” concluded his appearance with a rendition of the Andy Lau classic “忘情水 (Forget Love Portion)”. Much to everyone’s surprise, he was totally owned by Deng Chao. The mainland actor did a perfect Andy Lau impersonation when he was asked to sing the same song. We now know which show he should go on next time when he visits Taiwan– Entertainment 100%, in a head-to-head battle with its resident Andy Lau impersonator, Show Luo.

Sonjia Kwok

TVB new series Men & Women Chooses Residence held it's blessing ceremony yesterday. The cast includes Sonjia Kwok, Michael Miu, Him Law, Michael Tse and Ron Ng. In the series, Sonjia starts out playing a "little housewife", and will only be putting on light make-up. She said: "So I have to do masks every night, but filming this time is pretty comfortable and relaxed. Just spend 15 minutes on make-up. (Will have hugs and kisses wth Michael Miu in the series?) We play a married couple of over 10 years, Michael said that sentimental scenes are the main focus, giving off a feeling of love from the heart. The love won't be too apparent. (Did Michael do this because he wanted to avoid getting his ear twisted by his wife Jamie Chik?) Of course not, their love is golden."

This series is about home ownership issues. In reality, Him is planning to become a homeowner next year, he said: "Next year I plan to buy a home, but I won't allow myself have too much of a burden, so my planned budget is around HK$4 million, just for investment and will rent it out."

About the TV King battle this year, Michael Miu expressed: "I'm not in on the battle, this year's TV King is either Moses or Wayne, what am I going to fight for? I feel that this year the hot favourite is Moses and the second favourite is Wayne. The 'black horse' is Felix Wong. In Gun Metal Grey, he performed quite well." Michael felt that No Regrets is having good momentum and is related to last year's popularity. This is a normal situation.

Also, yesterday Moses learned that Michael supports him, he laughed: "Another vote for me. I hope everyone will give me a vote. (Have confidence?) Nope, just another person votin for me gives me confidence! (Michael felt that your oppenents are Wayne and Felix?) Yes, Felix is a very good actor. (Lately you have been accepting jobs like crazy, trying to boost the popularity to win?) Nothing special, just before I was too busy filming series, so now I want to accept more jobs while I have some time before I start the new series. I also hope to develop in more areas."

Jackie Chan apologised about Hong Kong tourist Bus Hijacking

Jackie Chan

HONG KONG: Action star Jackie Chan apologised in a statement on his website for his remarks on Twitter about the recent bus hijacking in Manila.

The actor's tweets about the hostage crisis, which took the lives of eight Hong Kong tourists last Monday, have raised the ire of netizens who claimed they were disrespectful to the victims.

However, Chan claimed his words were simply mistranslated.

"Maybe what I said wasn't very clear and it was misunderstood. The content in my Twitter account was posted by my American assistant on my behalf, but after interpretation the posts did not entirely capture what I truly meant to say.

"What happened to the Hong Kong tourists in the Philippines was a terrible and heartbreaking tragedy. I am 100 per cent Chinese and I'm from Hong Kong. I feel grief and pain for the Hong Kong citizens who lost their lives during this unfortunate incident," said Chan in a statement.

His statement was released in both Chinese and English, perhaps to avoid any mistranslation.

"What I wanted to convey was that I won't hate Filipino people as a result of this tragic incident. If we start hating each other, it will cause great damage to both Hong Kong and the Philippines.

"As for whether or not the Filipino police in charge of the incident should be held responsible for not handling the situation appropriately, of course I don't need to comment on this matter; this should be left to the experts in this area," he explained.

"If I have caused any misunderstanding or discontent because of my incomplete thoughts and feelings posted on Twitter, I would like to express my deepest and most sincere apology."

His apology has garnered mixed reactions with netizens.

Some felt there was nothing wrong with his tweets and expressed disappointment that he caved to pressure and apologised while others felt he should have been more careful with his words in the first place.

Chan had earlier tweeted about a Filipino ex-police officer's hijacking of a busload of Hong Kong tourists in Manila on August 23 that left eight hostages dead.

Although the hijacker was later killed by a sniper's bullet, many Hong Kongers believe that he could have been taken down before any hostages came to harm and felt that the Filipino police force had mishandled the crisis.

While numerous Hong Kong celebrities slammed the Filipino police force, Chan took on a more diplomatic stance and tweeted that Hong Kongers would not feel hatred towards Filipinos just because of this incident.

Chan's tweets also appeared to be supportive of the Filipino police.

"If they killed the guy (hijacker) sooner, they will say why not negotiate first? If they negotiate first, they ask why not kill the guy sooner? So sad," tweeted Chan.

Thank you all for being at the hospital for the last few days, it's hard work, sorry about that."

Kay Tse will release first mandarin album

Kay Tse

It's been a while since Kay Tse appeared in public, yesterday she attended the (Anti-Corruption Ambassador) event. Kay reveals that she's recently busy recording for her debut Mandarin album. For a perfect album, she will give up on the opportunities to earn extra money, she will request some 'time off' from her company. She said: "This time I am really focusing on doing my best for this album because it is my first debut Mandarin album after all. So for this month I didn't really participate in any public events. Kay also admits that she has lost some income: "Don't know the calculations and not worried about having no income at all. I will earn money in different way. It's more important that my new album does well."

Also, ever since Kay and her husband Louis Cheung started a family together, the couple are often targeted by the media. First they were described as a poor married couple, then when Kay's popularity grew based on her song (Wedding Street Invitation), the media started saying Louis counted on his wife to eat. Now when Kay's popularity decreases, the media flips the rumors around saying Louis has to run around looking for jobs to support the family. Every day there are fresh new rumors about them. Towards this, Louis says: "How much pressure Kay experiences, I know it the most. If someone is trying to do something to harm and attack her, she will actually think of it as a way to help her own growth, she's really strong."

Before Kay has often been criticized that when she sings, she gets off-tune, as her husband, Louis brings justice for his wife: "You can count your five fingers the amount of times she made a mistake in her singing. Hong Kong singers have intense jobs, will definitely use a lot of physical energy. Which singer hasn't gotten off-tune before, who hasn't made a mistake before?! The soccer king makes mistakes too, kicking a ball 12 yards and will miss!" Louis said that there was a short period of time where Kay's vocal cords had an infection, a flipped throat" situation. One will know why she made mistakes if they knew she had his condition. Louis felt that Hong Kong people are like "critical culture", every person acts like they're a professional singing teacher and can jump out to say who made a mistake.
