NEWS

“The Memorial for Glen Anderson, son-in-law of Beth & Darrell Baxter, will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, August 13th.

It will be held at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Take Main street south to Wheatland and turn right to Avenue C and turn right. He was in the hospital for a pancreas infection. Sometime between 2:30 & 3:30 AM he stopped breathing and in turn that stopped his heart and then he had massive brain damage before they found him. He was 47 years old.” (Darrell Baxter)

RESULTS and UPCOMINGS

“Due to miscommunication Claremore, OK will not be a CASI sanctioned cook off this year. Green Country Chill and Bar B Que too Pod apologizes for the error. However, the Claremore Chamber of Commerce desires to make this happen and to continue to try to establish The Claremore Chili and Bluegrass Festival as a CASI regional event. That being said, several members of our Pod along with the Chamber are going to have a cook off September 6th in Claremore at the EXPO center. Although it will not be sanctioned and points will not be awarded, the Terlingua travel monies previously offered by the Chamber will be up for grabs. A lot of you are qualified and this will be a nice, relaxing way to grab a few bucks to help with the expense of getting to Terlingua. We will follow CASI rules to conduct the cook off (might as well be ready for next year). There will be a cooks meeting at 10:30 where we will establish turn in times and disseminate further info. There will be music, an ICS cook off, crafts and other events going on at the same time. This is a fun event and we could use CASI support to show we are behind the Chamber of Commerce. Claremore is VERY simple to find-from I-44 (east of Tulsa) take route 66 into town and follow the EXPO signs or US 75 North to 116th st and head east, you will run into it. There is RV parking (call the Chamber for details.) I can be contacted at 918 640 3161 or at
mdbass@att.net.” (Mark Bass)
