NEWS

“I would like to announce my candidacy for election to the CASI Board of Directors and look forward to seeing you at the upcoming Great Peppers Meeting in Amarillo. I have served as the Great Pepper of the New Mexico Chili Society for 7 years and have also served as Chilicity, Chiliscribe, and Pepper Popper. I have cooked chili since 1990 and have been a member of CASI since about 1991. I am a member of several Pods in Texas, Arizona, and Colorado and in New Mexico. I am retired from the Federal Government where I worked for 37 years both as a Soldier and as a civilian employee. During my career, I held several managerial positions at White Sands Missile Range and was responsible for the management and execution of multi-million dollar budgets. I hold both a BBA and MBA. I believe that my educational and experiential background in human resource management, business, and business processes can be a benefit to CASI in the areas of fiscal management and short- and long-term planning as we move into the future. I will always represent and vote for the best interests the “cooks in the field” who represent the backbone of our organization. Your support and vote will be greatly appreciated. I welcome questions and comments from everyone and can be reached at teamorgan@peoplepc.com or (575) 382-5107.” (Bud Barrick)

“Attention All Qualified Cooks! A new "must attend" event is happening in Red Lion PA on September 27, 2008.

In conjunction with Cape Horn Beverages, Oktoberfest celebration we will be having the Inaugural All Star Chili Cook-off. This non-sanctioned event is limited in spaces and is sure to fill up quickly, so don't hesitate to reserve you spot and chance at winning a cool grand to help cover the expenses of you trip to TICC.

We are starting this year with using the ICS rules and will be doing it with CASI rules in 2009. Kind of like baseball, but even more fun. We will be raising money for
www.heifer.org which is my wife's favorite charity and a most worthy cause.” (Chip Welsh)
